Use of Water Soluble Contrast-Based Protocol to Assist in the Management of Pediatric Adhesive Small Bowel Obstruction
Inclusion Criteria:
Patients ages 1-21 who present with a diagnosis of adhesive small bowel obstruction and a history of previous abdominal operations.
Exclusion Criteria:
Patients with SBO not thought to be due to adhesions (other causes include active malignancy, inflmmatory bowel disease, and hernia) and/or patients with signs or symptoms concerning for bowel necrosis or strangulation including peritonitis on examination.
Patients that are < 4 week post-abdominal operation, allergic to contrast, have pneumatosis and/or pneumoperitoneum.
